Teacher and Student
Day School Teacher
When a student is struggling academically or socially, what better way to help than by providing a personalized tutor or mentor? Youth EMPWD, Inc. is a registered nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free supplemental tutoring and mentoring services to students during the school day or remotely via online video conferencing platforms such as Zoom or Google. Our mission is to address the learning and social-emotional needs of students in Massachusetts schools, by helping them take responsibility for their own learning, reimagine their own futures, and work toward success both in and out of school.
If you’re interested in teaching or working in a classroom with students or guiding and inspiring a young person, then tutoring or mentoring is the perfect opportunity to gain more experience, and see if it would be the right path for you. We leverage the skills and experience of our high school juniors, and seniors who volunteer as academic tutors, and especially our college undergraduate and graduate students, as a recruitment strategy for schools needing to increase and attract a more diverse teacher workforce.
  1. Field-based Individualized Tutoring program ("FIT") affords our high school juniors, seniors, undergraduate, and graduate students, the opportunity to volunteer as academic tutors in a public school setting. Due to the COVID-19 health pandemic, we are transitioning all in-person tutoring services to online meeting platforms such as Zoom or Google.
  2. Mentor After School Students program ("MASS") connects students in grades 10-13 with career-minded professionals who serve in a mentoring capacity.
We are currently recruiting and serving the Middlesex and Suffolk Counties in Massachusetts.
